How our geographies work
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare publishes data for local areas (of various sizes) across Australia, to illustrate health status and outcomes.
Immunisation rates for children aged 1, 2 and 5 years are available for four different-sized geographic areas:
- 31 Primary Health Network (PHN) areas
- More than 80 Statistical Areas Level 4 (SA4s)*
- More than 300 Statistical Areas Level 3 (SA3s)
- More than 1500 postcodes.
Note: Prior to 2015, data were published by Medicare Local catchment. Medicare Local catchment data is not included in this interactive tool.
You can use the interactive tool to navigate larger or smaller geographic areas and see immunisation rates for children within a given local area or compared to others. Each of the smaller areas is mapped to a PHN, and you can see results for postcodes within local areas (SA3s) and within PHN areas. You can also explore by age group.
